Richard Tohu has been teaching forklift operators since 1986 when he became the youngest qualified forklift instructor in New Zealand. At that time he was employed as a forklift operator with Northland Dairy Co-op, Maungaturoto and later moved into workplace safety training and stores and purchasing roles at the Kauri site.
Richard has also worked as a stevedore and in the extractive industry gaining valuable experience with many types of Mobile Plant including loaders, excavators and big dump trucks. He has operated as a part time safety consultant and trainer since 1995.
His extensive knowledge and experience in training, warehousing and logistics led him to become associated with Kensington Campus in 2004, delivering their Certificate in Transport and Logistics 26 week courses for job seekers.
In 2007 Richard won the prestigious NZAPEP "National Tutor of the Year Award" in recognition of his contribution to helping unemployed people into work.
Richard is currently a registered assessor with MITO, Connexis and Competenz ITO's and his teaching and assessor scope includes health & safety, freight & warehousing and many other industry standards (click on qualifications to see NZQA record) .
Richard continues to work in tertiary education as a Health & Safety Tutor with NorthTec delivering many of their courses including fall protection and confined space entry as well as in the private sector as a consultant for Loadsafe.
I'm based out of Whangarei, but I will
travel the North Island for large groups. Travel costs may apply but
with our prices, usually still works out cheaper.
